The Kendrick Lamar “Pop Out” Concert + Weekend Video Shoot

KENDRICK LAMAR LIGHTS UP THE STAGE AT THE OLD “FORUM” IN LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA!

Multi-platinum and Grammy winning rap artist Kendrick Lamar performed last week at his June 19 “The Pop Out: Ken & Friends” Concert for “Juneteenth” at the historical “Forum” in Los Angeles, California.

Juneteenth is a black national holiday created by the government to honor the day African Americans were declared free by President Abraham Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation.

It is also a day that many African Americans use to show unity, commemoration, and celebration for the culture, and Lamar did all three as he put on a great show for a sold out crowd of around 17,000 people (fans and celebrities included), that will also become historical for years to come.

Celebrities such as NBA players Demar Derozan, Russell Westbrook, LeBron James, R&B artist Chloe Bailey, hip hop artist North West and many more were all in attendance at Lamar’s concert, singing and rapping along to every word.

Derozan and Westbrook were even invited on stage with Lamar to perform his newest hit single “Not Like Us” which is also known as a diss record to fellow hip hop rival and superstar Drake, as the two have been feuding recently over the last two months.

Rap artists ScHoolboy Q, Ab Soul, and J Rock join fellow artist Kendrick Lamar on stage to perform some hit records recorded by the group of MC’s

“K. Dot” as he’s referenced to used his concert to promote West Coast allegiance and alliance amongst all West Coast artists such as ScHoolboy Q, YG, Roddy Ricch, Ty Dolla $ign, Tyler The Creator and he even brought out legendary hip hop superstar and super producer Dr. Dre to show that all artists from different sections of California with heavy gang culture can all unite in one place to spread love, peace and unity.

Lamar even took the time out of his show to pay respect to the late great rap artist Nipsey Hussle, who was shot down and killed in front of his “The Marathon Store” in South Central, CA a few years ago and spoke a few words of love to honor Hussle’s legacy and his family.

During the concert, Lamar performed many of his hit singles such as Swimming Pools, Humble, Collard Greens with ScHoolboy Q, Drake diss records Like That (produced by super producer Metro Boomin), Euphoria, 6:16 in L.A., and he even performed the crowd favorite Not Like Us a whopping 5 consecutive times.

Lamar had every member in the audience singing every lyric to every song word for word the entire concert, and then just to up it one, he decided to shoot the official music video to Not Like Us three days later on June 22, in his hometown of Compton, CA with the entire city showing up.

The video will be released really soon, but for now stay tuned and give your opinions in the comments section below of what you thought about “The Pop Out: Ken & Friends” concert and how you feel it represented Juneteenth, and the Black/ African American community as a whole.
