Curmel Moton Is Boxing’s Next “Big Deal” After Gervonta Davis

Profession boxer Curmel “Big Deal” Moton is only 3-0 so far in his young professional career as a prize fighter, but he is indeed seeming like his nickname as he is already drawing comparisons to some of the boxing’s greats at a very young age of just 18 years old.

Some of the names boxing experts and analysts such as former boxing champion Abnar Mares and Hall of Fame [HOF] trainer Joe Goosen have been comparing Moton to recently are HOF Legend and unbeaten, former Welterweight champion in Floyd “Money” Mayweather and the current WBA Lightweight Champion and number one fighter in the sport of boxing in Gervonta “Tank” Davis.

Looking every bit of the comparison to Davis, and fighting with a mixture of power and speed like both Mayweather and Davis combined, Moton boasts an impressive 61-3 amateur boxing record, going 180 rounds in 64 fights with a knockout ratio of 8.2 percent (higher than both Mayweather and Davis).

Moton stands at 5’7” and 135 pounds, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nevada by way of Salt Lake City, Utah.

In three of his professional fights (all wins), he’s knocked out 2 of his opponents in the first round with his third fight against Anthony Cuba (unbeaten at the time) going the distance in 8 rounds and winning in by a unanimous decision.

Moton has great punching power and speed, puts his combinations together very well and is not afraid to bang or brawl with fighters if he has to.

Although Moton’s defense looks like it needs work and his fatigue looked questionable toward the end of his last fight, that can be fixed as he experiences more rounds in more fights.

The one thing that will suit him just fine is the fact that he loves to exchange and has a high punch output so far in his first three bouts.

He spoke in an interview late March with 210 Boxing TV on gaining experience in more fights. “It was a great opportunity to gain a lot of exposure” he stated. “I’m glad I got the rounds in. Of course we wanted to get the stoppage, but me and my team talked about it and we’re glad I got the rounds in.”

With a bright future ahead of him and with Mayweather’s “Mayweather Promotions” leading the way for the young phenom, he will get plenty of opportunities to hone his skills and get better as he looks to become the next face of boxing by the time “Tank” Davis decline in his prime and he starts to enter his.

Give us your thoughts and opinions on Moton and his potential to become the next face of boxing in the upcoming years, and let us know if there is anyone you think might also be worthy to mention in the comments section below.
