Lloyd Banks is Back with New Album “The Course OF The Inevitable 2”
Lloyd Banks is back with a new album this summer and he’s quieting all the critics who questioned his place in the hip hop world with “The Course of the Inevitable 2”
Over the weekend Banks dropped his new album “The Course of the Inevitable 2”(COTI 2) on July 15th, a direct follow up to his last album “The Course of the Inevitable” (COTI) which he dropped on June 4th, 2021 last year, and if anyone questions if he still has it musically, the answer can now be put to rest. YES!
Banks delivered directly on his first track “Impact” which he claims he’s coming back with a big impact to stake his place in the game, while delivering classy, witty lyrics and punchlines fans fell in love with in the beginning of his career.
He continues for the next 3 tracks as he spits clever lines directed to the ones who doubted him in his career. “No Reward”, “Menace” and “Living Proof” are songs aimed at his haters and critics as he features two of Griselda’s top artists Benny The Butcher and Conway The Machine.
“The Course of the Inevitable 2” boasts a list full of great A List features with names such as Benny The Butcher, Conway The Machine, Dave East, Jadakiss, as well as G Unit’s own Tony Yayo and Vado to fill out the 14 tracklist album.
With COTI 2, Banks brings back the classic “mixtape material” feel all fans are used to from his early G Unit days as he drops classic bars over great produced tracks and instrumentals.
He also showed he still has great radio records with songs such as “Fell In Love” and the street gritty “Power Steering” where he and Jadakiss deliver bars discussing topics about moving around fake love and critics who show doubt.
Banks has been criticized over the years for being “lazy”, having a lack of passion, and not being serious about his craft.
He mentions how he’s had to deal with hard times and weave his way through lots of internal problems through his career as he raps on records like “Living Proof” where he says “Tryna’ carry weight that’s dead will only hold me back/ sometimes you gotta have a fall out to see the truth and you showed me that”.
He also stopped by the Joe Budden podcast to discuss his album and many other things in his career where he lets them know that not all of it was him falling back because he didn’t want to rap
Instead he states that it was because he dealt with real life issues and he also began to question if some fans really know him or if they actually dealt with as much as he has and made it through their struggles (mentioned around the 2:37:00 seconds).
He also mentions how he was in some dark places and had to find his way out of them. He discusses how he made it through by listening to Joe Budden’s advice and using his kids to cycle out a lot of the negativity.
Regardless what critics have said about Lloyd Banks, one thing no one can take away from him is the fact that he has some of the best lyrical ability and content out of any rapper in history and COTI 2 is a great example of how he can deliver when he makes up his mind to do so.
Lloyd Banks has 4 previous studio albums out, with COTI 2 being his fifth, and not one album has fallen short of bar delivery or lyricism.
He has always delivered great material when he’s released work, whether it be his albums, “The Hunger for More”, “Rotten Apple”, “The Hunger for More 2”, “The Course of the Inevitable”, or now with “The Course of the Inevitable 2”
He has also delivered on many of his classic mixtapes from the “Cold Corner” series to the “Halloween Havoc” series to the DJ Drama Gangsta Grills “F.N.O. (Failure’s No Option) , the (A.O.N. L.I.U. (All or Nothing: Live It Up) series and many more of his classic early mixtapes and the ones in between albums as well.
Lloyd Banks has delivered another masterpiece to music and we should be celebrating real hip hop as one of the most respected MC’s in hip hop culture decides to come fourth and give real hip hop fans food for thought and more.
Congratulations to Lloyd Banks on a great body of work. This album deserves five mics. Let us know how you feel about COTI 2 in the comments section and also check out his tracklist below.
