With health improving, prayers continue to pour in Buffalo Bills’ safety Damar Hamlin.
With his health improving, and plenty of reports from his family and agent, Damar Hamlin is continuing to receive lots of prayers for his health and support from family, friends, teammates and supporters all over the world.
Hamlin went into cardiac arrest Monday night during MNF’s live telecast between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Buffalo Bills. It happened during the first quarter on a play in which Hamlin attempted to tackle Bengal’s receiver Tee Higgins as Higgins collided into him as a way to break or avoid the tackle.
As Hamlin began to get up from the ground, he seemed to be getting ready to move to the next play as he started to gather himself and head back to the defensive huddle.
He suddenly and abruptly stopped, in a woozy motion for a few seconds and collapsed in the same area he made the tackle.
Hamlin lay still and unresponsive for 20 minutes as paramedics attempted to perform CPR and resuscitation on him, which eventually restored his heartbeat. They then escorted him into an ambulance on a stretcher and took him to the UC Medical Center in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he was sedated, monitored and treated for more tests while being placed in critical condition.
Tons of support from fans, players and media began to pour in for Hamlin and many people began to donate to his charity fund as millions of dollars was raised in a single night in support for his injury.
Patriots owner Robert Kraft donated $18,003 to the toy drive on behalf of the organization. Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Quarterback Tom Brady donated $10,000,and Las Vegas Coach Josh McDaniels donated $2,000 to Hamlin’s charity “The Chasing M’s Foundation”.
San Francisco 49ers’ Rookie Quarterback Brock Purdy, 49ers’ Quaterback Back Trey Lance and 49ers Running Back Christian McCaffrey each donated $1,000 as well and altogether, fans and players donated a total of “$4.5 million dollars to Hamlin’s toy drive” to help support him, according to WLWT Digital Staff.
According to ESPN journalist Jeremy Fowler, Hamlin’s agent Ron Butler said “Hamlin's oxygen levels have improved”.
ESPN's Coley Harvey also spoke with Hamlin’s uncle Dorrian Glenn, in which Glenn told him that Hamlin is still sedated and that his health is "improving from where he was yesterday”.
We continue to send prayers up for Hamlin in hopes of a speedy recovery, and will continue to support him in his attempt to make it back to full health.
