LeBron James signs 2 Year, $97 Million extension with the Los Angeles Lakers

LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers have agreed to a two year, $97 million deal that would pay him a healthy extension and have him locked up with the Lakers through 2025. This extension comes with a 3rd year player option that will allow LeBron to become an unrestricted free agent by the 2024-25 NBA season.

With this deal, it rids the Lakers of any concern of LeBron opting out and leaving the next year while also creating some room for speculation that he will choose to play with his son Bronny James in L.A. if he is drafted by the Lakers.

LeBron stands to make $46.7 million per season moving forward, and with this deal has become the highest grossing player in NBA history, making over $532 million for his entire career. He recently was reported to have become a billionaire with business ventures outside of the NBA adding to his financial gain.

The Lakers still have Anthony Davis for at least 2 more seasons and with the extension to LeBron, look to make another attempt at a championship run in the near future.
