Naoya Inoue Stops Stephen Fulton In The 8th round to claim two featherweight titles.
Naoya Inoue stops Stephen Fulton with 1:45 rounds in the 8th round to claim two featherweight titles.
It happened with 1:45 seconds in the 8th round, in front of a sold crowd in Tokyo, Japan. Starting from a straight left hand to the boy, followed by a straight right hand to the face, Naoya Inoue put Stephen Fulton to the canvas with a little over 2 minutes left in the 8th round.
Hurt and on wobbly legs, Fulton got to his feet and signaled to the judge that he’s ready to continue. An onslaught of punches from Inoue began to rain upon “Cool Boy Steph” in what closed the fight as he got hit with several punches on his way down to the canvas for a second time as the fight was stopped at 1:45 in the 8th round.
Inoue did not only KO Fulton in the 8th round but he was dominating Fulton all through out the fight with great speed, power and counter punching, throwing great combinations that Fulton could not seem to figure out.
Inoue now sits at 25-0 with 22 KO’s at the 122 pound division and looks to continue his #1 pound for pound status in the sport of boxing by continuing to make great fights and showing fans how great he is.
Manny “Pac-Man” Pacquiao showed his support for Inoue as he tweeted that “Inoue has great speed and lots of power… He’s a special fighter.”
What’s next for Inoue? Will he move up to 130 to chase more great fights, or even possibly move up to the 135 pound division to take on the likes of Shakur Stevenson or boxing’s biggest superstar and “King” of the 135 pound division in Gervonta “Tank Danks?
It sure will make for exciting headlines, conversation and entertainment in the boxing world that has already had an unsurmountable year.
With so many great fights being made, and having the biggest fight of the year taking place a few days from now as Welterweight superstars Terence Crawford and Errol “The Truth” Spence take on each other on July 29th, to find out who will become the Undisputed “King” of the 147 pound division, Naoya Inoue has sure made a statement in his victory today.
