The New York Giants Release Former First Round QB Daniel Jones
Breaking News - The New York Giants have released former first round QB Daniel Jones today, upon his request for the team to do so. The Giants honored those wishes and chose to cut ties with Jones, stating that it was “the best for the organization and everyone involved to move on.” Jones, 27, signed a four-year, $160 million contract extension with the Giants last year and accounted for $23 million of their salary this year.
In Jones’ tenure with the Giants, he has a record of 24-44-1, the worst record for a QB with at least 50 starts. Jones can be signed off waivers by another team this year, but given his play as of late, that seems like a really slim chance.
The franchise will start QB Tommy Devito moving forward and will most likely be looking to draft a new quarterback in the upcoming draft after this season is over.
Rumors as of late have been linking the Giants to Colorado Buffaloes’ Quarterback Shedeur Sanders, with other rumors also spreading that they may be looking to bring his current coach and father Deion “Prime” Sanders in with him as well.
