The world saw two spectacular performances from Gervonta Davis and Devin Haney in back to back weekends May 28th, 2022 when “Tank” as Davis is known, KO’d former undefeated 135 pound rising star Rolando “Rolly” Romero in the 6th round to remain undefeated, while Devin Haney had to take a harder route traveling overseas to Australia to fight George Kambosos in his hometown, defeating Kambosos easily and traveling back to the United States as the “New” undefeated and undisputed 135 pound champion of the world on June 6, 2022. Now the question that remains is, “when are these two top undefeated fighters at the 135 pound lightweight division and 2 of boxing’s biggest rising superstars going to put it all on the line and step in the ring to see who is the true leader of the new generation of boxing’s young generation of talented fighters?”
For Devin Haney, he has been flashing sings of brilliancy as a talented boxing technician both offensively and defensively, winning majority of his fights against tough and top competition fairly easy, while also drawing high praise and comparisons to his idol and mentor, boxing’s biggest ppv draw and highest grossing fighter, former pound for pound king and undefeated, newly HOF inductee Floyd “Money” Mayweather. Haney has stated on numerous occasions that he believes he is the best fighter in the world and would like to fight all top competition ranging from the 130 pound division to the 140 pound division and has been continuously clammering for all the top fights in the sport.
Tank on the other hand has been also asking Floyd Mayweather to put him in the biggest fights in boxing, asking to fight the likes of Ryan Garcia, Vasyl Lomachenko, Devin Haney, and even possibly a fight at 147 with former title holder Keith Thurman. In the interview above, around the 2:30 mark, “Tank” can be heard telling Devin Haney through Custer’s note sheet to fight him next if he beats George Kambosos.
