The No Jumper Podcast Have A Debate: Is Nipsey Hussle a Top 10 LA Rapper?
Since the late great Los Angeles hip hop superstar Nipsey Hussle’s untimely demise, there have been tons of praise, love, respect and many accolades given to the credibility of his name and to his actual estate.
He has won a grammy for best rap album, his “The Marathon” brand, now ran by his big brother Blacc Sam has seen an unfathomable success and growth rate, making it one of the most popular and recognizable brands today but he has also received a ton of negative criticism and bashing about his career and his accomplishments as well.
One of the criticisms that have been attached to Nipsey’s name is that he was not a worldwide name in the music industry when he died, and most of that conversation stems around the lack of success he’s had during his 15-year music career and the lack of album sales his “Victory Lap” album produced once it debuted in stores.
In Nipsey’s defense he did have Victory Lap nominated for a grammy before he died, losing to Cardi B who had an even more phenomenal year than he did.
He also chose to go the independent route for most of his rap career, due to issues he had with his first major label Epic Records. But when he first came out with his first debut single “Hussle In The House”, he drew wonderful praise and comparisons to Snoop Dogg at a very early age. So it’s not like he hasn’t had time in the spotlight.
The No Jumper Podcast decided to challenge rapper the Game’s Top 100 LA rappers of all time, recreated from Complex Music’ top 50 LA rappers of all time, and one spot hosts Wack 100 and Adam 22 seemed to be offended by was Nipsey Hussle’s spot on the list.
They debated with the Viral Way podcast about Hussle’s spot and even debated if Nipsey was a bigger artist than Eazy E.
