Kendrick Lamar Goes “Back To Back” On Drake With “6:16 In LA”
It’s been about two months since Kendrick Lamar sent shots at Drake and J Cole on Future’s “Like That” song, in which “K. Dot” featured on and ever since then, it’s been nothing but “fireworks” with disses flying in from everyone.
They’ve even created other rap beefs and feuds between other artists because of their issues. Lil Yachty has been pulled into it, Gunna has been dragged into it, Kendrick’s TDE labelmate SZA was dragged into it and many more.
However, the main issues that have continued to remain is the beef between Kendrick Lamar and Drake themselves.
After Drake got wind of Kendrick Lamar’s shots that were thrown his way on “Like That", the self proclaimed “6 God” from Toronto, Canada started sending subliminal messages aimed at Kendrick Lamar, music producer Metro Booming (who produced “Like That”) and a few others in many Instagram posts and stories, hinting of a forthcoming diss record.
Drake dropped that diss record, “Push Ups”, three and a half weeks later, where he went at about six different artists and industry figures including Metro Boomin, Future, Rick Ross and Kendrick Lamar himself.
He then followed that diss with another diss record days later titled “Taylor Made Freestyle” aimed solely at Kendrick Lamar in which he claimed that Kendrick’s music decisions and choices are controlled by Taylor Swift. He also used AI voices of legendary artists Tupac and Snoop Dogg to shame Kendrick Lamar in being a bad West Coast artist and also told Kendrick that he had a limited amount of time to respond before everyone decides that he’s lost the battle between the two.
Kendrick replied 11 days later, this week, Tuesday, April 30th, where he unleased a fury of 6 minus and 40 seconds of vicious rhymes and lines aimed at Drake with “euphoria” attacking his character, his integrity and exposed Drake for not being from the urban and black culture and community.
K. Dot set the rap world a blaze with the song and even hinted in the diss record that he might go “back to back, for the record”, as he rhymed in the song. Three days later, he’s done just that as he indeed goes back to back on Drake with “6:16 In LA”.
There’s a lot to unpack in this 3 minute and 45 second freestyle so go through it with us.
Kendrick accuses Drake of controlling Akademiks, a YouTube podcaster who spoke earlier this week in favor of Drake winning the rap beef between the two.
He accuses Drake of trying to do harm to him, tells Drake that his own people want to do harm to him, says that he has moles in his OVO label, and even tells Drake that his label Cash Money/Young Money, controlled by hip hop moguls & artists Birdman and Lil Wayne is taking advantage of him for money.
This beef is starting to heat up and we could only assume that it is just getting started. Fans all over the world are tuned in, even celebrities from all worlds of the entertainment business are chiming in. Rap artists 50 Cent and Rick Ross have posted on their Instagram accounts, Actor Joel Osteen who Kendrick mentioned in “euphoria” has showed support for Kendrick, and DJ’s such as Funk Flex and DJ Envy have favored Drake and Kendrick separately as well as many other fans and celebrities.
Polls taken from All Hip Hop, Hip Hop DX, Complex and many more all have Kendrick Lamar winning this rap beef so far and because of that we leave the opinions to you, the fans.
