Gervonta Davis VS. Lamont Roach Press Conference

Gervonta “Tank” Davis and Lamon Roach go face to face today at their live press conference in Brooklyn, New York at the Barclay’s Center as they prepare for their Dec. 3 showdown live on pay per view in the same building.

Most fans and critics see this fight as a less than impressive fight because Davis’ opponet Roach lacks star power and notoriety, however, this may be more of a competitive fight than many may think.

Davis even admitted to this when asked why was Roach a good choice for him to fight moving on from a potential fight with Vasyl Lomachenko that fail through. Davis stated, “He have skills. I feel as though he one of the guys I came up with in the amateurs that’s still doing well. He definitely have the skills and a top opponent”

Roach is 25-1-1 with 10 KO’s but he has been in some really tough fights and is officially a champion in the 130 pound division. He knows Davis well from the amateurs and they both grew up in the state of Maryland fighting each other. While Davis is from Baltimore, Roach is from a rival city in the D.C. area.

When asked does this fight mean something extra to him with the rivals between the two rival cities, Tank responded, “Not Really. I been coming to the D.C. area since I was young.”

Roach added, “It’s more so for the crowd. It ain’t necessarily between me and him, but for the crowd, as a area thing, it is.”

Tank added that he wants to test Roach’s chin and offered bets of $100k per person to Roach and a few members of his entourage.

Davis also noted that he doesn’t plan to fight past 2025, stating that he is “out of it” by the end of next year. During a few post interviews, he cited his reasons, stating that the sport is “trash”

When asked about a potential fight with Shakur Stevenson, he added “What has he done? He ain’t done nothing". Keyshawn (Davis) done more than him, and he ain’t do nothing".”

As for who he wouldn’t mind fighting next, he stated that he wouldn’t mind going up to 140 pounds to fight Teofimo Lopez. He also said that he will slap Teo when he sees him next.

This fight will be intriguing to watch, as Roach says he will press the action early and will expose Tank’s flaws to the world.
